The Lweza playground witnessed a goal-filled weekend on August 25, 2024. In two matches, a combined 15 goals were scored in the Mutalaga Christmas Cup.
Professor Buwembo FC delivered a resounding 8-0 victory over Anfield FC. Frank Busingye led the scoring with 4 goals, while Morata Kisekka added a double, and Ukasha Mubiru and Edgar Katumba contributed one goal each.
In the second match, Kanaaba United cruised to a 7-0 win over St Mary’s. Ali Kimera and Godfrey Nyakuni both netted hat tricks, while Simon Peter Mukwaya added another goal to complete the rout.
With 4 points from two games, Kanaaba United currently sits in third place behind Jesus FC in the group standings. Professor Buwembo leads the group with 7 points from 3 games, while Jesus FC and St Mary’s have played two games each.
On Monday, August 26, Kitoogo FC played to a 1-1 draw with Nile Army in a group B fixture. Emma Donzi scored for Kitoogo, while Alawi Muwonge scored an own goal for Nile Army.
In another match in group H, Kajjansi Wembley defeated Birime 4-0. Nsubuga Jovan scored an own goal, while Edris Odongo, Abasi Siraje, and David Kiyingi added goals for Kajjansi Wembley.
