The Uganda U-17 Women’s National Team has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where it will face the hosts in a friendly match on Thursday as preparations for the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship enter the final stretch.

The friendly will provide head coach Sheryl Botes Ulanda with an opportunity to assess her squad before the regional tournament kicks off on June 13 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Uganda heads to the championship as one of the favourites alongside hosts Tanzania, having assembled a talented squad drawn from some of the country’s top women’s football clubs and academies.

Botes has selected 20 players for the tournament, with St. Noa Girls FC contributing the largest number. The squad also features players from Kampala Queens, Kawempe Muslim, URA Ladies, BUL, Amus College, Rines SS and ISRA Soccer Academy.

After the Ethiopia test, the Teen Cranes will turn their attention to their opening CECAFA fixture against Djibouti on June 14 at the Azam Complex Stadium.

Uganda will then face Zanzibar on June 16 before wrapping up the group stage against South Sudan on June 18, with both matches set to be played at KMC Stadium.
