Overview
Nasser Mutebi, better known in rally circles as “Nash,” is one of Uganda’s most experienced rally drivers. He has been in the National Rally Championship (NRC) for over two decades, meaning some of today’s young drivers grew up hearing stories of him while he was already dusting them on stages.
He is known for his aggressive driving style, strong pace, and resilience. When Nash is on a stage, fans know two things are certain: dust will fly, and brakes will be tested emotionally.
Achievement
Mutebi rose to national prominence when he won the Uganda National Rally Championship title in 2010. That victory was not just a win it was a statement that “experience still counts” in a sport where youngsters arrive thinking they own the road.
Since then, he has remained a strong competitor, regularly challenging younger drivers who often discover that “old is gold” also applies to rally driving sometimes painfully in split times. His career highlights include strong performances in events such as the Masaka Rally and Pine Ridge MOSAC Rally, where he built his early reputation as a driver who never backs off even when common sense suggests otherwise.
He has also taken part in the prestigious Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally several times , facing both triumphs and the occasional “mechanical disagreement” with his car.
Co-driver Partnership
A rally driver is only as good as his co-driver, and Nash has worked with some of the best. He has previously been navigated by Steven Bunya alias “Stingo,” Bashir Mbogo, and currently Emmanuel Mugulusi.
These co-drivers have had the important job of reading notes clearly especially because at Nash’s speed, hesitation of even half a second is considered a luxury the car cannot afford. Together, they form a partnership built on trust, courage, and occasional shouting inside the helmet intercom.

Vehicle
Mutebi has driven several competitive machines over the years, especially the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution series, including the Evo X and Evo 9 R4. Before that, he also competed in Subaru Imprezas, which helped him build his early rally identity.

He currently runs under the Nash Rally Team, with past associations including the KCB Rally Team. In rally terms, Nash and Mitsubishi Evo 9 is a relationship that has survived breakdowns, rebuilds, and more patience than most mechanics would recommend.
Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally Expectations
For this year’s Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, Nash returns to his Mitsubishi Evo 9, a machine that has been out of action since last year but has now been fully rebuilt. The car is back, stronger, and probably a little angry from being parked too long.
The crew enters the event with one clear mission: finish the rally and collect maximum points. Not drama, not unnecessary heroics just smart driving, strong pace, and survival.

However, knowing Nash, “just finishing” might still come with a few heart-stopping moments for fans, marshals, and possibly the car itself. Their focus is to build momentum for the 2026 National Rally Championship season with a clean and calculated performance across all stages.
