Tornado Bees CC won by 7 wickets

Defending champions Kutchi Tigers Cricket Club suffered their first defeat of the season after Tornado Bees Cricket Club produced a disciplined all round display to secure a seven wicket victory in the Cricket Uganda National Men’s 50 Over League at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe on Sunday May 10.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Kutchi Tigers never settled. Tornado Bees kept the pressure on from the start, striking regularly to reduce the champions to 64 all out in 32.4 overs.

Hasin Ashani top scored with 15 off 45 balls, while Steven Wabwose made 9 and Avnish Vekariya added 8 in a disappointing batting effort.

Suleman Sharif and Jonathan Ssebanja led the destruction with three wickets each. Suleman returned figures of 3/24, while Jonathan claimed 3/13 in a miserly spell.

Cosmas Kyewuta added 2/11 as Tornado Bees wrapped up the innings with ease.

Chasing a small target, Tornado Bees lost a couple of early wickets but stayed firmly in control.

Anas Baig guided the chase with an unbeaten 31 off 29 balls, including two fours and a six, while Roger Galiwango Mukasa finished unbeaten on 15 as the Bees reached 70/3 in 17.5 overs.

Kutchi Tigers picked up wickets through Ghanshyam Ashani, Vekariya Kush Mahesh and Alpesh Hirani, but their low total never gave them a chance to defend.

Suleman Sharif was named Player of the Match for his decisive spell with the ball.

Elsewhere in the Gold Category, GM Sugar dominated Aboojo CC and won by 167 runs after posting 243/9 and bowling out Aboojo for 76.

In the Silver Category, Avengers CC defeated Kutchi Tigers B by 63 runs after dismissing them for 74 in response to 137.

The match between Nile and Ismaili Community was abandoned because of an unplayable pitch following heavy rain.

The shared point kept Nile fifth and just outside the relegation zone with four points from five matches.

In Bronze Group B, Chennai CC won over Centurion A by 197 runs after scoring 272/7 and bowling out their opponents for 75.
