KCCA Panthers held their nerve in a tight 58-56 win over UCU Canons on Sunday at ABJA Park in Naalya, sealing their ninth victory of the National Basketball League season behind a dominant display from Stanley Mugerwa.
It was another frustrating afternoon for UCU, who were chasing a response after a 87-80 double overtime loss to City Oilers at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

They had earlier shown signs of recovery with wins over JKL Jaguars, Victoria Crocs and Rezlife, but KCCA slowed them down early.
The Panthers started stronger, taking the first quarter 17-14 and stretching their lead to nine points by halftime.
UCU came back after the break, they tightened up defensively and reduced the gap to just one point at 38-37 going into the final quarter, setting up a tense finish.
In the fourth, Zachariah Ekirapa and Daniel Muganzi hit back to back three pointers to push UCU five points ahead, raising hopes of a comeback.
But KCCA stayed calm. Stephen Otoa levelled the game at 51-51 with a lay up inside the final two minutes, and from there, the Panthers managed the pressure better.
In the closing moments, they drew key fouls and converted five free throws to seal the win.
Mugerwa led the way with 19 points and 16 rebounds, controlling both ends of the court.
Alier Perch added 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Jimmy Otim and Ekirapa scored 14 and 12 points respectively.
The victory also completed a league double over UCU, after KCCA won the first meeting 85-81 on March 22.
In other National Basketball League results, Victoria Crocs beat Sommet 59-44.
In the women’s games earlier, JKL Lady Dolphins dominated Angels 81-48, JT Lady Jaguars overcame Miracle Eaglets 66-60, and Victoria She Crocs defeated KIU Rangers 47-38.
