As the sport of athletics continues excelling despite challenges in coaching, the Uganda Athletics Federation has opened up ways to improve by introducing the coach licensing system.

The initiative developed from the inaugural Coaches Forum held at Mandela National Stadium over the last weekend.

The coach licensing system is aimed at processing formal certificates as the Uganda Athletics intends to ensure coaches meet standards.

The process will consequently involve World Athletics and Uganda Athletics to ensure courses are presented to permit qualified coaches to practice.

During the forum, a new coaches’ association was elected with Aggrey Ogol stepping in as the chairman, Grace Chesang deputizing, Khasim Latigo and Kifaaya Musa were elected secretary and assistant secretary respectively, while Pius Osilaje comes in as treasurer and Shaban Alua as publicity secretary.
