- SC Villa 1-1 Vipers SC
SC Villa and Vipers SC shared the spoils in a lively one-all draw at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Wednesday evening, with both sides matching each other throughout.
Villa came into the game fresh from a 1-0 win over KCCA and showed early confidence, but Vipers were just as organised, making for a tight contest from the start.
The first real chance fell to Milton Karisa in the 18th minute, but his effort was well saved by Villa goalkeeper David Lukwago.
After a quiet but competitive first half, the game came alive in the 64th minute. Hillary Mukundane gave Vipers the lead with a powerful header from Odili Chukwuma’s corner.
Villa responded almost immediately. Four minutes later, Frank Ssebuufu headed home to level matters after a well-worked move. Hassan Mubiru beat his markers before setting up Najib Yiga, whose cross took a slight deflection and fell kindly for Ssebuufu.
Villa nearly took the lead in the 74th minute, but Reagan Mpande’s effort went just wide.
Vipers pushed for a winner late on, with Karisa getting another chance, but Lukwago produced a brilliant save to keep the score level.
In the end, a draw was a fair result. Vipers stay top of the table with 52 points, while Villa remain fourth with 45 after 23 games.
Next, Vipers SC will visit Buhimba United Saints on Tuesday April 22, while SC Villa will visit Lugazi FC the next day.
Elsewhere, Calvary FC played out a goalless draw with Lugazi FC in Yumbe while Express FC edged UPDF 1-0 in Bombo.
