In the concluded Kampala Region USSSA Ball Games 1 qualifier for the 2026 edition, Nabisunsa Girls Schools continued their dominance of the girls’ basketball qualifiers as they emerged champions again.
Nabisunsa Girls won all the games, beating teams like Lubiri SS, Bishop Cyprian Kihangire, and Mengo SS in group A of the qualifiers played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
Topping the group, Nabisunsa Girls progressed to the semifinal to beat Kitante Hill by 43 baskets, with the score counting at 51-08.
In the Final, they went on to beat Kibuli SS by 19 baskets with a score of 50-31, which saw them retain the trophy they won in 2024 and 2025.
Since it was a qualifier, Nabisunsa Girls qualified with teams like Kibuli SS, Mengo SS, Kitante Hill, and Lubiri SS to represent the Kampala region at National Ball Games 1 in Mukono on dates between April 29 and May 9 at Seroma Christian High School.
After the accomplishment of the Mission to defend the Zone Trophy, Coach Albert Aciko noted,”it had to happen this way because that team is ahead of any at this stage. now we awaits for Nationals and we only go there to compete nothing less.”
Meanwhile, in the boys’ qualifiers, Kibuli SS also retained the trophy as they qualified with Aga Khan, Mengo SS, Lubiri SS, and Makerere College School.
