Uganda Rugby 7s national team will later this year guard their African title crown in Zimbabwe from 16th-17th September 2023.

The Rugby Cranes claimed the continental crown on home soil last year at Kyadondo Rugby Club, to make it three titles in 7 years.

Uganda ran through the competition in April 2022 and notably dispatched Kenya in the semifinals before seeing off Zimbabwe in the final.

The Africa Sevens tournament will serve as the first major tournament for which Ian Munyani will be leading the team.

Taking over the mantle from the evergreen Micheal Wokorach, Munyani will be deputized by magician Aaron Ofoywroth.

Uganda Rugby 7s have been in camp for the greater part of 2023 and took part in the Challenger Series in Stellenbosch in April.

The team’s faithful followers will be eagerly looking on to see the development of new entrants like Aaron Tukei, and Allan Olango.

Outgoing URU VP Technical took to his Twitter to express his joy in this news and suggest that fans can escort their team using Ugandan Pride, Kiira Motors.
