- KCCA FC 3-0 Maroons FC
KCCA FC kept their Uganda Premier League title hopes alive with a comfortable 3-0 win over Maroons at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday night.
Knowing they could not afford another slip, the Kasasiro Boys produced a composed display to stay in the race behind leaders Vipers.
Ashraf Mugume, Herbert Achayi and Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the goals in a victory that handed KCCA their 17th win of the season.
Maroons defended well for most of the first half and looked set to head into the break level, but KCCA struck at the perfect moment. Ahimbisibwe slipped Mugume through on goal and the midfielder calmly finished on the stroke of halftime to give the hosts a deserved lead.
KCCA remained in control after the break, moving the ball with confidence while Maroons struggled to trouble the home side.
The pressure finally paid off again in the 87th minute when Achayi doubled the lead to put the result beyond doubt. Ahimbisibwe then capped a fine performance with a third goal in stoppage time to complete the dominant win.
The victory moves KCCA to 55 points from 27 matches, four behind leaders Vipers, who still have a game in hand.
Maroons, meanwhile, suffered their 10th defeat of the season and remain on 34 points.
KCCA next face UPDF away on Wednesday, May 13, while Maroons will host Entebbe UPPC a day earlier.
Uganda Premier League action continues on Friday with SC Villa hosting BUL at Wankulukuku before Vipers take on URA at Kitende.
