Uganda Motocross kingpin Maxime Van Pee has withdrawn from the 2022 FIM Africa Motocross Championship slated for Victoria Raceway Track, Garuga between Friday-Sunday.

The former captain of the national team cited work related reasons, making it public knowledge that despite his love for racing, he would not make it back to the country in time to compete.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I write this post. I will not be participating in the African Championship this weekend,” he said via his social media platforms before adding:

“I’m currently out of the country for work and won’t make it back in time,” he confirmed the agonizing news further.

The FIM Africa Motocross of Africa Nations, is the highest ranking professional motorsport event on the continent, and his absence will be a huge blow for team Uganda as they will miss the most decorated rider on the track.

Over 140 riders are expected to take part in the race from different nations including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Burundi, Zambia, Botswana, Morocco, Congo and Zimbabwe.
