After two intense days of action at the Rally International du Burundi 2025, where Kenya’s Samman Vohra, guided by co-driver Drew Sturrock, produced a flawless drive to claim a dominant victory.

Behind the wheel of his Skoda Fabia R5, Vohra stunned the field by winning all 15 stages of the event, a rare clean sweep that left no room for debate.

Vohra completed the rally in 1 hour, 44 minutes, and 21 seconds, securing not only the Burundi title but also moving into second place in the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) standings with 106 points. With just one round remaining on the ARC calendar  the season finale in Tanzania Vohra has kept the title fight alive.

Uganda’s reigning ARC leader Yasin Nasser, with co-driver Ali Katumba in their Ford Fiesta R5, settled for second place overall in 1:54:59. Despite trailing by a huge margin of 10 minutes and 27 seconds, the result was exactly what Yasin needed. His plan was never about chasing stage wins but about championship survival. Mission accomplished: he remains at the summit of the ARC standings with 114 points, now just one rally away from writing history as the 2025 African Rally Champion.

Tanzania’s Prince Nyerere endured a tough weekend after technical issues threw him out of early contention. Still, he fought back bravely to salvage 9th overall, a finish that handed him 3rd place in the ARC class, keeping his season alive despite the setbacks.

Burundian pride shone brightly through Rashnali Mohamed and Christophe Bigirimana in their Subaru Impreza GVB, who brought the home fans to their feet with a solid third-place overall finish in 2:02:57, driving under Moil Racing colours.

In the National Rally Championship category, Massoud Fahd and Yunus Mohamed powered their Subaru Impreza to 4th overall, timing 2:07:32, which secured them second in the NRC class. Completing the top five was another Subaru crew, Faida Philbert and Guy Melherbe, who crossed the final time control in 2:10:39.

As the spotlight shifts to Tanzania, the final act of the 2025 ARC season promises tension, and possibly history. For Yasin Nasser, the equation is simple: a second-place finish or better will see him crowned champion. But with Samman Vohra’s red-hot form, the final battle could be a thriller.

The grand finale in Tanzania will not just decide the winner of the rally  it could also decide the fate of the 2025 African Rally Championship title.
