Wanderers opened their National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup campaign with mixed results after their win and defeat against Pioneer and Aziz Damani respectively on Saturday.

The side was superior in all ways against Pioneer as they beat them by 10 wickets in the morning game, but were outplayed in the afternoon game that saw Damani win by 8 wickets.

Wanderers and Pioneer played out a seven-Over game after the early showers that led to the reduction of Overs.

Pioneer managed only 24 runs that Wanderers chased in just two Overs.

Wanderers then had to face Damani who has made them a punching bag in the league, and the outcome was as expected.

Rita Musamali (58), the only Wanderers player with double digits tried to help her side put up a reasonable score 103/7, but Damani were able to chase it with three Overs to spare.

Damani needed just their openers Gloria Obukor (30) and Proscovia Alako (58) to get the job done.

Musamali picked both those wickets, but they had already inflicted the damage as Ann Nyapendi and Consy Aweko needed just 7 and 4 runs respectively to complete the job.

Aweko also picked two wickets in Wanderers’ innings and so did Immaculate Nakisuyi. Nyapendi and Teddy Oyella each picked one.

The win keeps Damani’s 100% run in this competition intact. They remain top of the table with 8 points with a net run rate of 2.6023.
