Uganda Basketball fraternity had two dead years on the local scene but managed to write success stories on the continent.

The men’s national side, Silverbacks finished sixth at the Afro Basket, a continental showpiece but on a sad note, the female team, Gazelles failed to honour their games due to financial troubles.

In an exclusive interview, FUBA boss Nasser Sserunjogi revealed that the fraternity needs sh5bn from government every year.

The long wait for the start of the National Basketball League ended yesterday (Sunday May 1) with two games.

The day kicked off with a female encounter that saw KCCA Leopards take on KIU Rangers at Lugogo Indoor Arena shortly before the defending champions City Oilers welcomed new boys Nam Blazers.

With all these developments and the forthcoming national team engagements, Nnalubaale Sports had a one-on-one interview with FUBA president Nasser Sserunjogi.

He spoke about the good, bad, ugly and not forgetting the way forward.
