Aziz Damani registered a routine win against Nyakasura as they climbed second in the National Men’s 50 Over League over the weekend.

The defending champions beat the students by 7 wickets, and it was all rounder Alpesh Ramjani who did most of the damage.

Ramjani bagged six wickets! His first arrived in the 15th Over after he’d conceded just six runs.

He picked that with the third ball of his third Over, and it was Isaac Sanyu Ategeka, Nyakasura’s leading run scorer this season.

Alpesh then dismissed (lbw) Murungi in the 19th Over! He followed that wicket with four more, with the last one (Enoch Kasaija) being the one that bundled out Nyakasura for 124 in the 28.4 Over.

He also, batting at No.5 came in handy with the bat, scoring 12 not out.

Falak Sher (28), Shrideep Mangela (16) and Riazat Ali Shah (36) scored the runs for Damani as they picked that comfortable win.

Joseph Baguma picked all the three wickets (3) for his side and conceded just 22 off his 6 Overs, but the tally they set was an easy one for the defending champions to feast on.

The win elavates Aziz Damani to the second position displacing Challengers.

They are now just two points behind table leaders Aziz Damani Development who have a maximum 12 points.

In the other games in the men’s division, Wanderers endured a disappointing defeat to Patidar.

The Davis Karashani captained team lost by 29 runs after displaying a poor batting show.

Despite being clinical with the ball, Wanderers were no show with the bat. Karashani, Sadam Oyaga and Ivan Kakande each picked three wickets, but only Joseph Byaruhanga hit double digits (12) with the bat.

It was a loss that kept them seventh, but one that now has them flirting with relegation.

In Entebbe, Kutchi Tigers returned to winning ways with a 7-wicket win over bottom side Africa Cricket Club.

Dansuk Jesani picked four wickets for the Tigers while Aezaz Kothoriya (25) and Sachin Gill got the runs.

Kutchi Tigers remain placed fourth in the league while ACC remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
