Cyrus Kakuru was among the key performers for Kutchi Tigers on Sunday, scoring 44 runs off 22 balls against Kifaru Cricket Club to contribute to his team’s strong all-round performance.
With the outfield ready for the afternoon match, Kutchi Tigers CC secured a commanding 147-run victory over Kifaru CC.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kutchi Tigers CC posted an imposing total of 249/6 in their 18 overs. The match was reduced by two overs due to time constraints.
“In today’s game, I played without pressure, which enabled me to play my shots and score those runs. Hopefully, I can keep building on that and continue playing without pressure so I can score more runs for the team,” Kakuru noted.

Nitin Jeshani led the charge with a brilliant 90 off 41 balls, including nine fours and six sixes. Cyrus Kakuru added 44 off 22 balls, while Steven Wabwose remained unbeaten on 31 off 17 balls.
Devansh Patel and Hardik Donga claimed two wickets each for Kifaru CC, while Thummaluru Veera Sagar Reddy took one.
In reply, Kifaru CC were bowled out for 102 in 15 overs. Harsh Panchal top-scored with 47 off 18 balls, while Utkarsh Kothari added 19 and Hardik Donga contributed 17.
Vekariya Kush Mahesh was the standout bowler for Kutchi Tigers CC, claiming three wickets, while Dhansuk Jesani and Steven Wabwose took two each. Ghanshyam Ashani and Smith Vekariya chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Despite the big win, the Cricket Cranes wicketkeeper wasn’t entirely impressed with the team’s effort in the field. “The team can do better in fielding. We dropped some catches, which allowed Kifaru to cross the 100-run mark.”
Earlier, the morning game between Kutchi Tigers CC and Kifaru CC at the Lugogo Cricket Oval was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Kutchi Tigers CC won the toss and elected to bat, but a heavy downpour prevented the match from getting underway. Both teams received one point each following the abandonment.
