Jinja Association Cricket Club (JACC) female side will be playing in Division One next year following their double victory over Pioneer Cricket Club over the weekend.
The double win took JACC to 12 points, four ahead of second-placed Africa Cricket Club, who have eight points. Both of the top two sides have played six games.
JACC have only one fixture remaining against Nile CC as they look to finish their Division Two campaign without tasting defeat, a goal emphasized by their captain, Kevin Awino.
“We needed to win these games to make sure that we take the Division Two championship title,” Awino stated. “We look forward to playing our last game against Nile with positive minds and taking that momentum into Division One.”
Third-placed Nile CC, who have one win from four matches, will be on a mission to spoil the party by ending JACC’s unbeaten run.
However, with a healthy net run rate of 5.19 (while the other four teams remain in negative figures), the title is already JACC’s regardless of the result in their final fixture.
The five-team league sees Tornado CC in fourth position, with Pioneer sitting at the bottom of the table. The top team earns promotion to the top division, while no team will be relegated.
