Baby Cricket Cranes Flagged Off to Dar es Salaam for U-19 World Cup Qualifiers

The Baby Cricket Cranes have been flagged off to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers, which will run from July 21-31, 2023.

The team is hoping to make its fourth appearance at the World Cup, having previously competed in 2004, 2006, and 2022. The 2024 tournament will be held in Sri Lanka.

The Baby Cricket Cranes have been training under the guidance of Head Coach Emmanuel Isaneez and his Assistant Robinson Turinawe.

The team had a 10-day training camp in India before the final 16-squad selection, which has spent the last seven days in a residential camp in Entebbe.

The squad features six players who were part of the previous World Cup in the West Indies: Fahad Mutagana, Pius Oloka, Joseph Baguma, Brian Asaba, Ronald Omara, and Yunus Sowobi.

Six teams will be battling for a lone slot in the World Cup: hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya.

Uganda will open its campaign against Namibia on Sunday, July 23, and will finish the group stage against Sierra Leone on July 29.
