Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) boss Moses Muhangi has been granted bail, after being in Luzira since May 18, 2023, on charges of forgery and falsifications.

The embattled president appeared before the Nakawa Magistrate Court, where he was subsequently granted a cash bail of UGX2 million, while his sureties were given a UGX3 million non-cash bail.

And as such, Muhangi is required to return to court for further proceedings on July 20, 2023.

Muhangi has been in jail for the past twelve days, after an initial 48 hours at the Central Police Station in Kampala before being remanded at the Luzira Prison.

His arrest was ordered by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a recommendation for further investigation by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament.

Muhangi and the former UBF accountant, Lydia Namuleme, were forwarded to the Police CID for further investigations about allegations of forgery, uttering false documents, and misappropriation.

Magistrate Ritah Kidasa Newumbe had initially denied the pair bail when they first applied at court on May 18.
