With less than a week before the Uganda Cranes jet out of the country for the African Nations Championships (CHAN), players have been cautioned against indulging in any forms of doping practices.
The Cranes will fly out on the 1st of January 2023 to Tunisia for buildup matches, before flying to Algeria for the tournament bound to kickstart on the 14th of January 2023.
Uganda local football governing body, FUFA has thus advised players to be transparent to avoid any implications from FIFA and the World Anti Doping Association (WADA).
“You could be having health problems but before using any medical drugs, please make consultations and get advise from team doctors to avoid future challenges,” said Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe during the boxing day facilitation.
“You may not necessarily use a certain drug to enhance performance, but it could contain a substance that’s banned by WADA,” he added.
Also, players were notified about the doping tests science conducted by WADA and FIFA officials which are always random and can come knocking at anyone’s door any time.
“You are going to CHAN but when they select you, please don’t desist because that would call for sanctions,” another facilitator, Christopher Mboowa noted.
Uganda is locked in Group B along with Senegal, Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic of Congo, with a tie against the latter the first, on January 14th 2023.
