New York Red Bulls II star Ibrahim Kasule and his compatriot Frank Ssebufu have been called up to the Uganda Cranes squad for a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger in September.

Kasule has been in fine form for New York Red Bulls, scoring ten goals and providing four assists in his last eleven games.

He was also in good form in the first round of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League season, scoring six goals and making five assists before moving to the United States.

Ssebufu has also enjoyed a good season in the United States, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists for New York Redbull II, a team coached by Uganda Cranes legend Ibrahim Sekagya.

The two players are part of a 33-man squad that has been named by head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. The squad will enter residential camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi starting August 28.

Uganda will play Niger on September 7 at Grand Stade Marrakech in Morocco. Victory against Niger coupled by a defeat for Tanzania against Algeria will be enough for Uganda to qualify for the AFCON.
