Maroons FC star marksman Fred Amaku has been named the Pilsner StarTimes Uganda Premier League Player of the Month for December.

Amaku, who also doubles as the League’s joint-top scorer with seven goals, netted thrice in five games, in a fruitful month to remember.

While Maroons struggled in that period, winning only once against Gaddafi FC 1-0 a goal which he also scored, his overall individual contribution was commendable.

Meanwhile, his other two goals came in the 2-2 and 1-1 stalemates against Onduparaka FC and Express FC respectively.

“I was the top scorer when we were promoted to the UPL from the FUFA Big League and I am very happy to be scoring goals in the top flight,” Amaku said at the awarding ceremony held at Kati Kati on Friday evening.

“Scoring goals is part of me and I am targeting hitting double figures and hopefully I win the golden boot.”

Amaku fended off opposition from Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa and Busoga United FC’s forward Laban Tibita to the gong.

Maroons ended the first round in 10th position on the 15-team SUPL log with 15 points from 14 games and they will resume their second round away to Busoga United FC on February 9th, at the Kakindu Stadium.
