She Cranes and She Corporate attacking midfielder Phionah Nabbumba has been crowned the best Player of the Month for August at the Real Stars Awards.
Nabbumba was a strong pillar as She Corporate became the first Ugandan team to reach the final of CECAFA Zonal qualifiers to the CAF Women’s Champions League, eventually losing 1-0 to Simba Queens.
It was the first appearance at the competition where she scored six goals and provided five assists, a huge 11-goal involvement.
She beat off competition from Uganda Cranes’ rising star Travis Mutyaba and Ffumbe’s Daniel Sserunkuma to win the accolade.
At the awarding ceremony held at Route256 Restaurant in Lugogo, outstanding performers from four other sports disciplines were also rewarded.
Jacob Kiplimo, Brenda Ekone, Husnah Kukundakwe, and the pair of Duncan Mubiru Kikankane and Musa Nsubuga were named August’s finest in Athletics, Basketball, Swimming, and Rally respectively.
