The celebrated driver has for over three years been on trial in the cases involving Josyline Natukunda and George Williams Kawooya.

State Prosecutor Jonathan Muwaganya asked the judge to give Lwakataka a deserving sentence as he had committed similar crimes on several occasions before.

Passing the sentence, Judge Koburunga said the sentence was imposed after Lwakataka pleaded guilty and apologized.

However, the defence lawyer said his client would appeal as they felt it was a harsh sentence than anticipated.

Lwakataka did not form part of the recently concluded Kaliro Sugar Rally as he was in prison on remand, the event was won by Ronald Ssebuguzi who clocked 1:40:20.

Even then, Lwakataka who will now miss the final National Rally Championship event in Rukungiri, still tops the leaderboard with 332 points.
