Overview
Joseph Gachecheh is an emerging Kenyan rally driver steadily carving out his place in the East African motorsport scene. Known for his determination and hunger to improve, he represents a new generation transitioning from grassroots competition into the world of stage rallying.
His early experience in short, high-intensity formats has played a key role in building his confidence and car control.
Entry into Motorsport
Gachecheh first made his mark in rallycross events in Kenya, competing alongside seasoned names such as Carl Tundo and Baldev Chager.
These tight and technical events sharpened his reflexes and racecraft. However, unlike many of his contemporaries, he has yet to contest a full-length stage rally making his upcoming transition a defining moment in his career.
Vehicle
For his rally debut, Gachecheh will compete in a Skoda Fabia Evo, a highly competitive Rally2 machine. Initially intended for the Safari Rally earlier this year, delays meant the car only arrived in time for his Pearl of Africa Uganda rally outing.
This makes the event not just his first rally, but also his first real test with the car, where understanding its pace, handling, and endurance will be crucial.

Co-driver Partnership
He will be partnered with Finnish co-driver Sofia Rantasalo. This pairing brings a solid technical foundation, combining Gachecheh’s raw ambition with Rantasalo’s experience.
Their collaboration will focus heavily on communication, pace note accuracy, and adapting to the rhythm of long-distance rallying.

Pearl of Africa Rally Expectations
The Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally marks a major milestone for the crew, as it will be their first full rally together.
The objective is clear: gain experience, understand the demands of stage rallying, and reach the finish. Rather than chasing outright speed, the focus will be on discipline, consistency, and safe completion laying a strong foundation for future competition.

Summary
Joseph Gachecheh’s entry into the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally represents a significant step in his rallying journey.
With a new car, a new co-driver, and an entirely new format to master, his mission is centered on learning and growth.
If he can successfully adapt and complete the rally, it will mark the beginning of what could be a promising career in top-level African rallying.
