2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Tuesday April 21, 2026 | MD 24
- Mbarara City FC 2-2 Maroons FC
It’s 8 matches now, Maroons don’t lose against Mbarara City FC ‘s Ankole Lions since 2019 in the Uganda Premier League.
Mbarara City FC thought they had finally turned a corner in their survival fight, but Maroons FC had other ideas.
At Rwamwanja Stadium on Tuesday, the Ankole Lions went into halftime firmly in control after Clinton Kamugisha struck twice, both goals set up by same creator Tom Kakaire.
By the break, Mbarara City were 2-0 up and in charge.
But the game flipped after the restart. Maroons came back with more energy and belief, and the comeback started in the 53rd minute when former Mbarara City forward Marvin Oshaba pulled one back. That goal shifted momentum completely.
Mbarara City dropped deeper as pressure grew, and twelve minutes from time Dickson Niwamanya struck the equaliser to complete the comeback.
The 2-2 draw extends Maroons’ strong grip on this fixture. They are now unbeaten in eight straight league meetings against Mbarara City since 2019.
For Mbarara City, it is another missed chance to ease their relegation worries. They stay 14th with 17 points, just two above the danger zone. Maroons move up to ninth with 30 points.
