Uganda Cricket Association is sending the national U19 boys team, the Baby Cricket Cranes, to India for a two weeks tour.
This is in line with their preparations for the upcoming ICC U19 World Cup Regional Qualifiers to be hosted by Tanzania.
The team coached by Emmanuel Isaneez will leave on Friday 12 May to play five 50 Overs and two T20 games.
Isaneez says this tour will help his team gain much-needed exposure as Uganda eyes a fourth World Cup appearance.
“We want to gain as much experience as possible so that the boys get to understand the game in a broader perspective.”
“India being a test-playing nation, we look to capitalize on that and pick out things to fix our game,” Isaneez added.
Kenya, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Uganda, and the hosts will face off between 23 and 29 July 2023.
Fahad Mutagana, Ronald Omara, Christopher Kidega, Joseph Baguma, Pius Oloka, Yunus Sowobi, and Brian Asaba have been retained from last year’s World Cup team.
With a mixture of tested players and new faces, Uganda will hope to make their fourth World Cup trip having participated in the 2004, 2006, and 2022 editions.
