As Uganda Athletics switches to the fourth national trials of 2026, a total of 43 runners from 7 countries have arrived for the event set for Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The races at the fourth trials shall further include a team of 20 Athlete Refugees (ART) from South Sudan (12), Kenya (5), Sweden (2), Ethiopia (2), Burundi (1), and Rwanda (1).

The event shall also comprise Ugandan athletes alongside foreigners in the U20 category, eyeing qualification for the U20 World Athletics Championships, which will take place from August 4-9 this year in Eugene, USA.

However, the Ugandan runners who fall in the same category will remain with only 4 national track and field competitions to achieve the world qualifying mark.

The targeted events include the 4th Trial tomorrow, Central Region Championships on May 16, Akii Bua on June 6, and the local qualifying period climaxing with the National Championships from May 25-27, 2026.

Meanwhile, tomorrow’s trial will also focus on another category of athletes targeting qualification for the 24th edition of the African Senior Athletics Championships, due on May 12-17, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.
