The Cricket Cranes defeated Botswana in their first game of the ILT20 Continent in Kigali Rwanda by 78 runs.

Alpesh Ramjani (58 runs) came to the rescue of Uganda with a flourishing finishing taking as many 28 runs off the final over of the innings that helped Uganda finish on a respectable 164/8.

In the run chase, Botswana got out of the blocks quickly, led by Captain Karabo Mothalanka (17 runs) and Monroux Kasselman (26 runs) scoring quickly.

However, once Frank Nsubuga got three wickets for eight runs broke that opening stand, Uganda took charge of the game.

The slow bowling options of Henry Ssenyondo (2/16) and Alpesh Ramjani (1/15) dried up the runs, and Botswana ran out of resources, with 78 runs still required for the win.

Botswana’s zebras tested the Cricket Cranes in their first game but fell short with the bat. Uganda will take on Rwanda tomorrow afternoon.
