Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC and Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC emerged victorious in their respective Finance Trust FUFA Women Super League fixtures on Sunday, boosting their league campaigns with vital wins.

At Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over She Corporate, courtesy of Brenda Munyana’s decisive strike in the 72nd minute.

The breakthrough came from a well-executed set piece. Auki Kigongo’s precise corner kick found Latifah Nakasi, whose header struck the crossbar. Munyana reacted fastest, slotting the rebound home with her left foot to seal the win.

Despite She Corporate’s late attacking changes, Uganda Martyrs’ defence stood firm, ensuring they avenged their previous loss to the Sharks. The win marked their third consecutive victory and their fifth overall this season.

The result keeps Uganda Martyrs fifth on the 12-team log with 19 points, while She Corporate remains ninth with 15 points, just three above relegation-threatened Tooro Queens.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC secured a convincing 3-1 win over Rines SS WFC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Despite Rines taking an early lead through Patricia Nakato Nanyanzi’s 20th-minute penalty, Kawempe responded strongly. Agnes Nabukenya levelled the score from the spot before halftime, while Mebel Adong put the visitors ahead early in the second half.

As Rines pushed for an equalizer, Kawempe struck again, with Shakirah Nyinagahirwa scoring her first goal of the season after a long injury layoff.

The victory keeps Kawempe Muslim second on the table with 31 points, six behind leaders Kampala Queens. Rines, still winless in the second round, drops to seventh with 18 points.

Kawempe’s win also completes a season double over Rines, having beaten them 3-0 in the first leg. Up next, Rines faces a tough trip to Lugogoto face Kampala Queens on March 29, while Kawempe will host Amus the following day.

In the day’s other fixture, She Maroons and Makerere University played out a goalless draw, with both sides failing to break the deadlock.
