The Uganda Rugby Union has announced a 22-man squad for the upcoming Africa Men’s Sevens tournament, which will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on September 16-17, 2023.
The tournament will also double as a qualifier for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The squad includes a number of experienced players, including Ian Munyani, Alex Aturinda, and Byron Oketayot.
However, there are also a number of new faces in the squad, including William Lukwago, Roy Kizito, and Aziz Bagalana.
The tournament is expected to be a tough one, with South Africa and Kenya also in the mix.
Kenya is thirsty to draw blood after the Rugby Cranes outsmarted the Simbas in last year’s Africa 7s edition at Kyadondo Rugby club grounds.
Here is the list of players in the squad:

The tournament is set to be a closely contested affair, and Uganda will need to be at its best if it wants to win.
However, the squad has a good mix of experience and youth, and the team is confident that it can successfully defend their title.
