The Kampala International Future Series has concluded at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, with Team Uganda turning around a difficult singles campaign with a strong showing in the doubles.

The tournament, which attracted 14 countries, started on Thursday, September 24th, 2026, and came to an end on Sunday, September 27th, 2026.

Team Uganda did not get the desired results in the singles, but the hosts managed to write a redemption story in the doubles.

Uganda collected a total of 5 medals; one silver and four bronze. Leading that performance were Muzafaru Lubega and Gladys Mbabazi, who bagged silver in the Mixed Doubles.

“I believe the more we keep playing these tournaments, the more it prepares us and gives us experience. By the time we play the next tournament, we already know what we have to rectify to ensure we play better,” Mbabazi told Nnalubaale Sports.

In the same category, Reagan Nsubuga and Tracy Naluwooza also made it to the podium, clinching a bronze medal.

Naluwooza was back on court in the Women’s Doubles, partnering with Fadilah Shamika to secure another bronze medal for Uganda.

“I would say I’m happy with the performance. I feel like we really fought and did our best, and I want to say thank you to everyone who came through and supported us. We are really grateful,” Naluwooza noted.

There was additional success in the same event, with Mebel Namakoye and Gladys Mbabazi also clinching bronze.

Uganda’s medal haul was completed in the Men’s Doubles, where Joshua Ekochu and Tendo Mukalazi won bronze.

Next up at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, Team Uganda will compete against the rest of the world in the Uganda International Tournament starting this Thursday.

“Well, I believe since we have very few days left before the next tournament, we are going to make sure we rectify a few things that can be changed within a short period so that we can come back even more prepared,” Gladys Mbabazi stressed.
