Ugandan Motocross Team Flagged Off for FIM Africa Championship

The Ugandan motocross team was flagged off on Tuesday for the FIM Africa Motorcross Championship, which will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 11th to 13th August 2023.

The team is led by experienced rider and current captain George Juncture Serugunda.

Serugunda is confident that the team can challenge for the top spot, after finishing second behind South Africa in the last championship.

“We are well prepared and we have a strong team,” Serugunda told Nnalubaale Sports.

“We have a good mix of experience and youth, and I believe we can win the championship.”

One of the riders to watch out for is MX2 rider Fortune Emmanuel Sentamu.

Sentamu is a crowd favorite and he is always up for a challenge. He is also familiar with the track in Cape Town, having competed there before.

“I am excited to be back racing and I am looking forward to the challenge,” Sentamu said. “I know the track well and I am confident that I can do well.”

In addition to Sentamu, the Ugandan team also includes riders in the MX 50, MX 65, MX Lites, MX 125, MX 1, and VMX Veterans classes.

The full team is as follows:

  • MX 50: Jude Kyle Musedde, Jamairah Makumbi, Noel Ssekamwa, Faith Deedan Angel, Abigali Katende, Elie Mitima, Eadric Musede, Solomon Winyi, Israel Mpuga, and Abigali Muwanguzi.
  • MX 65: Miguel Katende, Jonathan Katende, Haruna Ramathan Mubiru, Larry Ssekamwa, Ashraf Mbabazi Jr, Isaac Mitima, Ethan Musede, and Rashid Mutebi.
  • MX Lites: Jerome Mubiru, Ron Young, Dan Emmanuel Mitima, and Jason Burrows.
  • MX 125: Milton Obote Akaki, Waleed Al Muzahim Al Omar, Shadrack Nsubuga Kreidah, Daryl Muhindo, and Alon Orland.
  • MX2: Jonathan Muhindo, Stav Orland, and Fortune Emmanual Ssentamu.
  • MX 1: Isima Mukiibi.
  • VMX Veterans: Ashraf Mbabazi, George Juncture Serugunda, and Shafique Sekitto.
  • The championship is expected to be a close contest, with several countries fielding strong teams.

However, the Ugandan team is confident that they can challenge for the top spot and bring home the title.
