Gaddafi add more salt to URA FC’s open wounds

Gaddafi FC picked a huge 2-1 victory over strugglers URA FC, who have gone seven games without victory in the Uganda Premier League.

Andrew Waiswa and Mahad Yaya Kakooza inflicted the pain while George Ssenkaba gave the guests the consolation at the Kakindu Stadium, Jinja on Tuesday.

The hosts netted in the 19th minute through a Waiswa penalty, after Najib Fesali had been found guilty of handball in the box.

A minute past half an hour mark, Kakooza’s long-range effort beat URA’s custodian Alionzi Nafian to double Gaddafi’s lead.

In the 86th minute, Ssenkaba pulled one back for the visitors but it was too little too late for the Tax Collectors to force a comeback.

The result sends Gaddafi to seventh with 21 points while the Taxmen lie 11th on the 15-teamed log with just 14 points.

Following a terrible start of the season, Sam Timbe‘s URA will be keen on making proper amends in February 2023 when the league resumes for the second round.
