Africa football governing body held the draws for the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

A total of 25 nations and 35 were drawn in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and the U20 category respectively.

Uganda U20 and U17 Women’s national teams both learned about their opponents in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers following yesterday’s draws.

The Queen Cranes (U20) will face Mozambique in the second qualifying stage after getting a bye in the first round.

The first leg will see Uganda host Mozambique between the 6th and 8th of October this year.

The return leg will be in Mozambique a week later to determine the winner who will face either Benin or Senegal in the third round in November.

In the last edition, Uganda was humiliated and eliminated by Ghana on a 7-1 aggregate.

Only two qualified teams from Africa will play at the finals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Teen Cranes (U17) to face Cameroon

Following a bye in the first round, the Teen Cranes will face Cameroon in the second round stage.

Uganda will welcome their opponents in the first leg between the 2nd and 4th February 2024 and a week later they’ll visit Cameroon.

The winner on aggregate at this stage will play either Tanzania or Zambia in the third round.

In 2021, Uganda was only 90 minutes away from qualifying for World Cup where they had to play Cameroon but the tournament was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year, Ethiopia eliminated Uganda in the first stage on away goals rule after a 3-3 aggregate score.

Only three U17 Women’s National Teams will represent Africa on the biggest stage.
