Buganda Kingdom County Buddu ushered in the season of Nsenene in a colourful fashion with their third Masaza Cup title.
The 1-0 victory over Kyagwe at Namboole Stadium was blessed with the brief royal presence of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
The Kansai Plascon powered County Football team’s hero was Mike Walaga who found the back of the net to ignite the Buddu fans who had blue and white paint on their bodies.
After the royal Twaake moment, Buddu visited the team sponsor at the Namanve Plant, and they were welcomed by Managing Director, Santosh Gumte and Brand Manager Daniel Kayongo.
The courtesy visit saw them present the trophy, tour the factory, and take pictures with the paint company’s employees before enjoying a meal.
As a token of appreciation, Plascon extended their sponsorship for a year with a surprise package of 50 million shillings.
Away from Buddu, Vipers Soccer Club was unbeaten in all their Uganda Premier League matches. They registered three wins and a draw.
Talented attacker Allan Okello guided the Kitende side to the summit of the table standings. Okello went on to shine on national duty as he played a pivotal role in Uganda Cranes’ successful 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
A thousand miles away from home, the Uganda Netball national team made history at the Fast5 World Netball Series by finishing third.
The team defeated Africa’s giants South Africa 46-42 in the playoff final in New Zealand.
The She Cranes achievement was their best-performance in the series, improving on their fifth-place debut in 2022.
On the Twaake light side, led by Vice Captain Margaret Bagala, She Cranes lit up the Arena with their unique court dance routine.
The queens were showered with flowers upon their return back home thanks to a dominant performance on and off the court.
