Denis Omedi, the top scorer in the FUFA Big League last season, has joined newly promoted side Kitara FC on a two-year contract.

The 22-year-old striker scored 22 goals in 26 appearances for Booma FC last season, helping them to finish third in the FUFA Big League.

The tally was the most of any player in the top two divisions of Ugandan football and also made him the highest scorer in the FUFA Big League history.

“Welcome the one and only best marksman,” a club statement read during his unveiling.

Omedi’s goal-scoring exploits have made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Uganda, and he is expected to be a major threat to the topflight backlines in the Uganda Premier League next season.

Omedi, who is a nurse with the Uganda Prisons, was recently elevated to the rank of Lance Corporal.

Before his spell with Booma, he previously featured for Water, Sporting United and Amuka Bright Stars, all of which are lower division sides.
