The second round of the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League kicked off with an intense clash between Wakiso Hill and Amus College, played at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.
In a match that showcased resilience and tactical discipline, it was Edna Wanda’s decisive second-half strike that earned Amus College a crucial 1-0 win over their hosts, Wakiso Hill.
From the outset, both teams were determined to make an impact, but it was Wakiso Hill who looked more dominant in the first half.

They controlled possession and mounted several attacking moves, yet they struggled to break down the well-organized Amus defense.
One of their closest attempts came just before halftime in the 42nd minute when Wakiso’s Shafiga Tamisi dazzled with a solo run, weaving past two defenders before unleashing a powerful shot.
However, the ball sailed just wide of the target, leaving the hosts frustrated and still searching for the breakthrough.
As the second half progressed, Amus College gradually grew into the game, asserting themselves more in the attack.
The game’s turning point came in the 64th minute when Edna Wanda demonstrated individual brilliance.
Wanda collected the ball just outside the penalty area, surged past a Wakiso Hill defender, and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
It was a clinical finish that left the Wakiso goalkeeper with no chance and gave Amus College the lead they so desperately needed.
Wanda’s goal was a testament to her pace, composure, and clinical finishing ability.
Her solo run and precise finish not only secured all three points for Amus but also highlighted her growing influence on the team.
Amus College came close to doubling their lead five minutes before full-time, when Shalyne Opisa curled in a beautiful shot that narrowly missed the target.
However, the single goal was more than enough for Amus College to hold on and secure the victory.
The win pushed Faridah Bulega’s side to 24 points on the league table, just one point behind the leaders, Kampala Queens FC.
Despite the defeat, Wakiso Hill’s central defender Judith Mawuwa was recognized for her exceptional performance, earning the Player of the Match award for her resolute defending.
This was a bright spot for Wakiso Hill, who are still searching for their first win of the season and remain at the bottom of the league table with just five points from 12 matches.
Looking ahead, Amus College will be eager to build on this victory as they prepare for their upcoming home match against Rines SS WFC on Sunday, 9 February 2025.
Wakiso Hill, on the other hand, will be hoping for a turnaround as they travel to face Lady Doves on the same day.
