Uganda Cranes failed to master a win in the two international friendly matches played with Ethiopia as they prepare for the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifier against Tanzania.

The Cranes lost 1-0 on Friday in the first friendly, thanks to Bezabeh Meleyo‘s strike at the death.

In the other, at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium on Sunday, both teams could not be separated after 90 minutes, but, Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was left a satisfied man.

“There is no training session that could have placed situation check ups that we have had,” the tactician spoke after the match.

“And, we have it in mind that we have played a good team that has practically beaten Egypt recently, and only one or two players have missed from that team. They are a very competitive side,” he defended the draw further.

According to the Serbian, the team fully expressed themselves with different formations and players.

“I believe we have tested ourselves well, we have tried out combinations. We have experimented and we have seven days infront of us to polish.”

On Monday, the Cranes connected to Zanzibar where they will play another friendly today, before jetting off for Tanzania on Friday.

Uganda against the Taifa Stars will then be played on Sunday in Dar es Salaam, before the return leg on September 3 at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The winner on aggregate after two legs will advance to the CHAN finals slated for Algeria in January 2023.
