Mburo Blasters suffered a frustrating day at the Great Lakes Women’s T20 Tournament after losing both their matches on Tuesday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
After falling to Kyoga Avengers by 21 runs in the morning, the youthful Mburo side returned in the afternoon hoping for a better result against Victoria Strikers. But their batting struggles continued as they slipped to a 17 run defeat.

Victoria Strikers posted 95 for seven in 20 overs, built around Janet Mbabazi’s steady 28 off 25 balls. Joan Ilora added 13 before Sarah Walaza’s late unbeaten 10 helped push the score close to 100.
Mburo’s bowlers kept the game within reach. Mariam Biribawa claimed three wickets for 11 runs while Michelle Ariago picked up two. Sarah Tino also bowled tightly, giving away only nine runs in four overs.
Chasing 96, Mburo started brightly through captain Jimia Abdallah Muhammed, who made 14, but regular wickets slowed the innings. Giringish Shadia Nabulime tried to hold the chase together with 33 off 36 balls, including a six, but lacked support from the other end.
Victoria Strikers stayed disciplined in the field and with the ball. Naume Jane Amongin led the attack with three wickets for 12 runs while Alio Ritah took two wickets. Three run-outs further hurt Mburo’s chase as they finished on 78 for nine.
The back to back defeats leave Mburo Blasters searching for answers ahead of Wednesday’s afternoon meeting with Bunyonyi Warriors.
Before that, Victoria Strikers will face Kyoga Avengers in the morning match as the tournament continues at Lugogo.
