Four months after joining Chinese side Henan Phoenix, Uganda’s Gazelles captain Jane Asinde has made another major career move, signing with Spanish club Ensino Lugo CB.

This transition follows her exceptional performance at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Zone V AfroBasket Qualifiers, where she played a pivotal role in leading Uganda’s Gazelles to victory.

Her outstanding display throughout the tournament earned her the MVP award, highlighted by an impressive 23 efficiency rating in the final against Egypt.

This remarkable effort helped Uganda clinch the championship and secure a coveted spot in the Final AfroBasket tournament set to take place in Ivory Coast.

The 25-year-old forward is set to travel to Las Palmas immediately to join her new team.

She is expected to make her debut this Sunday in a crucial matchup against Gran Canaria, marking the beginning of her journey in the Spanish league.

Asinde brings a wealth of experience to Ensino Lugo CB, having previously played for Wichita State University, the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) women’s basketball team, JKL Lady Dolphins, and most recently, Henan Phoenix.
