Ugandan football sensation Juliet Nalukenge has received a prestigious nomination for the 2023 IFFHS Awards for the World’s Best Youth Player in the U20 category.
This recognition comes after her impressive return from a 10-month knee injury, marked by a remarkable first league goal last month.
Nalukenge, a striker for both the Ugandan national team, Crested Cranes, and Cypriot club Apollon Ladies, joins a prestigious list of nominees as seen in her post on X below.

The international jury, composed of expert sports journalists and football specialists from 120 countries, carefully evaluates players born after January 1st, 2003. Nalukenge, born on August 14th, 2003, meets this criteria and is eligible for the award.
The IFFHS, established in 1984, boasts a long history of recognizing the best talents in football. Their annual awards, based on meticulous statistics and votes, are respected worldwide.
This nomination further solidifies Nalukenge’s remarkable talent. Previously, she was recognized as the Ugandan Women’s Player of the Year in 2019 and finished ninth in the Goal NXGN Award for the best young female footballer in the world in 2021.
The wait for the winners’ announcement is short, with all best players across various categories to be unveiled on January 1st, 2024.
