Onduparaka FC will start the 2022/23 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with two points and as many goals less following a penalty by the FUFA Displinary Panel on Thursday.
The West Nile powerhouse were punished for hooliganism in the game against rivals Arua Hill SC on the 6th of May at the Greenlight Stadium in Aura.
As Kongolo led 3-0, the Caterpillars became chaotic forcing Uganda Police into firing live bullets and teargas. The game as a result was interrupted for seven minutes.
“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel has sanctioned Onduparaka FC for breach of Article 31(10) of the FUFA Competitions Rules during their home league match with Arua Hill SC on the 6th May 2022 at Green Light Stadium,” read part of the ruling.
“A deduction of two points and two goals which shall be implemented upon commencement of the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier league season.”
Onduparaka has also been ordered not to host five home games at the Greenlight Stadium. The quintet will be held behind closed doors as well.
“Playing five home games behind closed doors outside the West Nile Province shall be implemented upon commencement of the 2022/2023 Uganda Premier league season. The games will be played on a neutral stadium cleared by the Club Licensing Committee.”
Meanwhile, Big League side Kataka FC has been docked two points and as many goals for fan and player violence in their end of the season decider against Kyetume FC.
Their player, Noah Kizito, who punched Kyetume’s Baker Buyala has been banned for six months from taking part in any football related activity as well.
