There are two rounds of regular season rugby left in the Uganda Rugby Championship and all the 12 teams are starting to scramble for something next to favorable placements ahead of the playoffs, regardless if it is the main cup or the relegation survival battle.
The Stanbic Black Pirates are primed for a revenge mission against the Kampani’s Eagles. The Eagles famously opened their account in the big leagues with a win against the Pirates in November 2023.
The Pirates, currently in third place will have learned their lesson and will be more prepared to not underlook the Eagles, who, sadly, are leading the relegation zone.
The Pirates needed one last bust of speed from the mechanic Arnold Atukunda to see off the stubborn Rhinos last weekend and will need a lot more of that this weekend to ensure a perfect result.
The Plascon Mongers, the biggest droppers last weekend (fell 3 places) will be at Legends to play the hapless Warriors, to keep the pressure on the top four.
The Buffaloes, too, will have a say about where they finish, with a top-four slot still a possibility. The Buffaloes are away to the stubborn Walukuba Barbarians, who have eyes on finishing higher than eighth spot in their own right.
The table-leading Platinum Credit Heathens are hosting relegation-threatened Impis at Kyadondo looking to lock in at least a top-2 slot with a game to go.
The Jinja Hippos still have their eyes on the top spot and will need to go past the Rhinos to ensure they keep the Heathens within reach.
The KCB KOBs are making the trip to Makerere to play the Lifeguard Rams, who themselves are on life support, and in last place on the table. A win for the KOBs helps them keep a top four spot, at least for another week.
