The highly anticipated 2023/24 Serengeti Elite Women’s Premier League kicked off on Wednesday evening with a dominant display by Simba Queens, humiliating Ceasiaa Queens 5-0.
Former Kampala Queens duo Margret Kunihira and Grace Aluka watched their side being humbled from the stands as they’re waiting to be granted working permit to feature for Ceasiaa Queens.
Aisha Mnunka stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, opening the scoring in the 38th minute and adding two more in the second half – the latter requiring three attempts and showcasing her relentless determination.
Asha Djafar and Omar Mwahamisi provided further firepower with goals of their own, completing the rout for Simba Queens.
Compatriot and Crested Cranes striker Joanitah Ainembabazi was an unused substitute while Reticia Nabbosa didn’t make the match day squad due to an injury.
Meanwhile, defending champions JKT Queens made a resounding statement with a 4-0 thrashing of Bunda, powered by a brace from youngster Winifrida Gerald and strikes from Stumai Abdallah and Donisia Minja.
In a nail-biter, Alliance edged past Geita 2-1 with Nelly Kache‘s double goal proving just enough to overcome Geita’s lone reply. Unfortunately, the clash between Fountain Gate Amani was postponed.
