Under the theme “Akerit Kanu Aikeun Atumunak”, which loosely translates to “empower the youth,” Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA) will celebrate 12 years of transforming young lives.
With the help of sports and education, numerous lives from humble backgrounds have been transformed, producing regional, national, and international figures.
For the second consecutive year, the celebrations will feature a road run dubbed the Soroti City Run, scheduled for Saturday, 19 December 2026.
The fun and funds raised from the event will support the mission to help vulnerable children stay in school, discover their potential, and build brighter futures.

“Proceeds and partnerships from the Run will support education, scholastic materials, and hygiene products, as well as improve our safe spaces that help young people navigate challenges such as early marriage, teenage pregnancy, violence, and substance abuse,” read the press release.
Grounded in the belief that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not, SCA was founded in 2014 as a community-based organization. It uses cricket, education, and mentorship to create a platform for children in Soroti and the wider Teso region.
Working with 15 primary schools and 7 secondary schools, the Academy provides free cricket coaching to approximately 1,500 young people each year.
It also helps at least 50 young cricketers remain in school annually, while around 10 players have progressed to university. Notably, 25 Academy players have gone on to represent the Uganda women’s national team, the Victoria Pearls.
The release invited the community, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, the private sector, financial institutions, the business community, schools, alumni, community leaders, and well-wishers to run, sponsor, donate, publicize the event, or partner with the Academy.
