St. Lawrence University hit Kabale for six with Kembo and Kayongo doubles

St. Lawrence University were in inspired form in the Pepsi University Football League, securing a resounding 6-1 victory over Kabale University in a thrilling match played on October 3rd, 2024.

The match, held at Crown City Grounds in Kavule – Masaka Road, saw St. Lawrence once again display a brand of entertaining football to secure their first win of the season having drawn their opening game against UCU.

The first half was dominated by St. Lawrence, with Kembo Osman Arafat opening the scoring in the 29th minute and doubling the lead just eight minutes later. Innocent Matege extended the advantage to 3-0 before halftime, thanks to a brilliant long-range pass from Vincent Agaku which took out the entire Kabale defence.

Kabale managed to pull one back early in the second half through Michael Owonyu Aturinda‘s superb volley, but St. Lawrence quickly responded with a brace from Michael Kayongo and another goal from Ziraba Ronnie to seal the win.

This victory propelled St. Lawrence to the top of Group C in the Pepsi University Football League with 4 points, while Kabale dropped to the bottom of the table with just one point – picked at home against YMCA.

For Kabale University the number 6 is becoming an infamous figure having conceded the same last year while on the road to Bugema University in a 6-0 defeat.

The Pepsi University Football League with continue tomorrow with Muteesa I Royal University making their University Football League debut at MUBS Nakawa.
