No National Team boss wants to summon his or her squad for a serious mission like World Cup during the league’s hibernation.

All coaches prefer working with active players as they get to know their match fitness and conditioning levels.

This is the dreamland She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa is in as the Uganda Netball Super action that was put on hold for at least a month due to financial constraints is back.

Several fixtures will be on the cards hosted by Luzira Prisons Netball Court tomorrow with action throwing off at 9:30 am.

This means the ambitious players who want to represent their nation in the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa, especially the new faces have got a chance to put their hands up before the summoning of the provisional squad.

She Cranes coach Fred Mugerwa.

For starters, about 30% of the team that represented Uganda in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham UK, and finished 5th, is likely not to be in Cape Town South Africa come July this year.

She Cranes Assistant captain Joan Nampungu went AWOL late last year, Jesca Achan also left for the UK, Sandra Nambirige has not been active this season, and Shaffie Nalwanja is preparing for her knee surgery and might be not fit for the World Cup.

The list continues with Norah Lunkuse who hasn’t been active since early December last year due to sickness and she has just returned for light training at her club, KCCA.

With the above probable absentees, it’s the perfect time for the players who would like to take over those positions to up their game.

According to this website’s reliable sources, Mugerwa is to summon his provisional squad in late March or early April and a couple of new faces are accepted to feature.

Prisons Netball Club defender Stella Nanfuka has a great chance to return to national team, as she was part of the 2019 World Cup squad.

Christine Nakitto, KCCA’s defender is another player Mugerwa can look up to replace Sandra Nambirige or Shaffie Nalwanja.

Future stars like Kadondi Faridah of Weyonje, Shatra Naluutu of Busia Greater Lions, UPDF’s Aguti Godlive, and Shakira Nassaka of Weyonje, are among the players who should make the most of the return of the league.
