Ugandan Safety and Security expert Dixon Okello has been appointed for the forthcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, slated for Argentina.
Okello, who is CAF and FIFA trained, will add to his long list of achievements in covering global tournaments when the U-20 World Cup kicks off.
The tournament will run from 20th May-11th June 2023, with Uganda missing, after falling in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations to Nigeria.
It is not the first time Dixon Okello gets to handle a U-20 World Cup assignment, as he was part of the Poland edition in 2019.
Okello has handled several high-profile games at the continent and international levels including at the FIFA World Cup finals.
He did provide security at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2012 Olympics in London, England.
At the continental level, he has handled big-status CAF Champions League matches plus the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and Cameroon.
In 2021, he was voted for the CAF Safety and Security Officer Award for 2020 in Douala, Cameroon.
