Uganda will join six other teams in the inaugural CECAFA Women U1-8 championship slated for Kenya later this June.
CECAFA initiated the age-group tournament to help nations vying for a place in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup preparations.
However, only five of the 12 nations that form CECAFA registered to participate in the World Cup qualifiers starting in September.
They include Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Burundi.
Meanwhile, Tanzania and Zanzibar are the two teams who didn’t register for the qualifiers but will participate in CECAFA.
The draws are expected to be conducted this week to determine the two groups.
